Tuolumne County

Tuolumne County First 5 supports early childhood mental health through the Social-Emotional Learning Foundations (SELF) program, which will:

•  Provide a dyad team to work on site with early childhood educators to implement classroom strategies recommended by the Center for Social-Emotional Foundations for Early Learning (CSEFEL);
•  Provide children that have significant social-emotional delays with individual assessment, links to services, and skill-building activities; and
• Provide the parents of these children with education and strategies consistent with what the child is learning in school, to promote consistency and success.

This program, which will begin in July 2011, builds on the lessons learned from 8 years of implementing a School Readiness program that focused on helping children with challenging behaviors become successful in early learning environments.
